Step 3: Perform PCR

Use the MicroSEQ® Microbial Identification Kit that matches your needs. Each kit contains reagents for amplification (PCR) and cycle sequencing reactions. You run both reactions on a thermal cycler. The MicroSEQ System identifies bacteria by sequencing the universal 165 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene - the objective basis for bacterial taxonomic classification in Bergey's Manual® of Systematic Bacteriology. Fungi are identified by sequencing the D2 region of the 265 rRNA gene.
