The LifeScope™ Workstation is a tower-sized, single-node, cluster-in-a-box, incredibly powerful for its size, but in a form that can be put at the side of your 5500 Series Genetic Analysis Systems. Pre-loaded with LifeScope™ Genomic Analysis Software, and performance-tuned for the analysis of 5500 Series Genetic Analysis Systems data, the LifeScope™ Workstation is a great solution if you don’t have the IT infrastructure to manage a cluster.
Benefits of the LifeScope™ Workstation:
- Convenient high-performance computing—affordable, convenient, HPC solution for data-intensive next-generation sequence analysis
- Integration is key—pre-loaded with LifeScope™ Genomic Analysis Software so you are ready to go as soon as you plug it in
- Simple to maintain—standard workstation dimensions enable easy placement in any lab or office
Packed with Performance
The LifeScope™ Workstation (Figure 1) is configured with a single-node/48-core/2.1 GHz processor, with 96 Gigabytes (GB) RAM in total, and approx. 7.5 Terabytes (TB) of usable long-term storage. This compute configuration allows for the simple management of a single Linux operating system. For example, the workstation plugs into a standard office 15 amp power outlet and uses only 800 watts of power. It has redundant power supplies but can run using only one, and it has the appropriate sound levels for a lab or office. The workstation is easy to maintain with “hot-swappable” power supplies, and disk drives that are accessible from the front.
Integrated and Read to Go
Every LifeScope™ Workstation comes with LifeScope™ Genomic Analysis Software pre-installed and ready for licensing. In addition, every workstation contains the necessary reference and other data to run the many genomic analyses enabled by the LifeScope™ Software. Finally, every workstation is tested prior to shipping to ensure maximum performance and reliability, so you can be confident that this high-performance solution will work out-of-the-box and as soon as you need it.
Small Footprint and Simple Administration
The LifeScope™ Workstation is ideal if you are performing next-generation sequencing experiments on 5500 Series Genetic Analysis Systems, but do not have the available resources to manage or operate a larger compute cluster. The small physical size of the LifeScope™ Workstation—compared with most cluster configurations—means that the workstation can be set at the side of a lab or office desk for maximum availability and convenience.
